I'm Gutted. in 45+ years I have never walked away from a Port game no matter how bad we were losing. But about 1/4 way into the 3rd quarter I couldn't watch anymore. I turned the tele off and said to my wife, " we are getting slaughtered, and that game is a disgrace" (including the umpiring) . I could not believe it when I checked the scores later in the night. I went to the AFL web site and watched their ' last 2 minutes' vid of the game .... and I had tears in my eyes when DBJ put that ball through. I must have rewatched that last two minutes about 20 times or more. I'm so happy for the Bois that they had the belief in themselves, and I am ashamed that I didn't.

No Rioli didn't take 10 seconds then kick the goal, he kicked it straight away, would have lost the game if he took 10 seconds. Nice boot from 50 metres!

I don't know how we won that game. The team was off from the get-go and lacked the dare and intensity they displayed against the Cats but somehow Port managed to win. I think it's clear that Port has to be switched on mentally and physically because otherwise the team will struggle to win. To the boys' credit, they managed to get stuck in the last quarter and willed themselves to victory. Special props to Butters for having one of the best quarters ever with 17 touches and getting that last crucial clearance, JHF for being only midfielder forward of the centre to compete and tried his heart out in the first half and to Dan Houston for his 3 goals. We bank the win but the mindset has to change for future games. DBJ you absolute legend with that soccer goal in the last few seconds to win the game and Willie for kicking the previous goal in 11 seconds from 50 out. Onwards to the Roos at Tassie.

Hawks were tougher at the ball for 90% of the time and the umpires were shit for 100% of the time

Potentially a danger game since the Hawks have been playing some decent footy and won the last few games. Port cannot afford to get complacent and instead must look at this match with ruthless eyes. Win big without letting the Hawks have their way for most of the game.

I'm nervous. Will get flogged if we play like we did just 2 weeks ago.

This is such a sweet victory! I'm so proud of my boys - special shoutout to Kane Farrell, I doubted them - I tipped Geelong and i thought it was just going to be a get it ovee with kind of game! Especially with some key players missing, but we stood tall and held on against a gutsy Geelong comeback to win in Geelong for the first time in 17 years! I'm so proud 💙🖤🤍

I reckon mnay port fans dont undertstand the amount of work jed mcentee puts in off the ball that gets un noticed. From Tom Stewart getting 10 intercept marks against the from to one is overlooked.

I am on cloud 3 after the win,like you said great win especially at the cattery but to nearly blow a 50 point lead is very disturbing to me,yes we new geelong would come back but I would have liked to see us win by about 25-30 points after leading by so much,not almost lose the game

Rabid cats fan here, traveled and watched it live. Super proud of how our boys kept fighting in the second half, but tremendous effort from Port and a well deserved win!

First off, I had zero expectations of winning, so this was a very pleasant surprise, and I'm happy for the four points. But let's not pretend that we've been bitten by radioactive spiders and turned into superheroes; every single person this watching believed that Port was going to $h|t their pants until the last 30 seconds of the game, because their play was so weak and back by no strategy whatsoever. Aliir had some good intercept moments, but overall there was close to zero defence at all. Celebrating this would be foolish. We were up 49 points and won by 6. Like most of this season, it's embarrassing, and there is still 0% chance of winning a premiership. We must have kicked the ball straight into Guthrie's uncontested hands 414 times. That's Ken's strategy: kick it and hope for luck. Two things drove us in the first half and earned thumbs up: Visentini and JHF. Without them, we lose this game by 50 points, plain and simple. Rioli also looked good, Butters was certainly better than his other games this season. But as a team, we folded in the second half and should just quietly note the win and never speak of it again.

I think the Cats were so focused on the Hawkins milestone during the week that they assumed they were going to win. They got caught with their pants down big time.

Played like a bottom four side last week, played like a top four side this week. I was gonna count it as a win if we lost by anything less than 119 points. Amazeballs. On another matter, amazed to learn that Bucky Cunningham never won a B&F. Could easily have won a handful plus a Magarey Medal or two.

I honestly cant believe we won this game without a true ruckman - now if we bring that endeavour every weeks yes we can be top 4

The reality is there was no pressure on us. No expectations at all. That is why we played as we did. When there is pressure like in a showdown or a final is when the club crumbbles. Im very happy for the win though.

The ruck did extremely well, a little more experience required as he tapped direct to opposition a few too many times but everything else he did was 1st class. I think too many of us port fans forget where our club was before Koch and Ken, to say he's done nothing in 12 years is just wrong, the club is a destination club again, it's been relevant in nearly every season since Ken started, ultimate success has eluded us but we were on the edge of losing our place in the AFL. I'd say that's something

Sorry to be so pessimistic , but Chris Scott summed us up in 1 paragraph when he said PA are an emotional team.. You can't win finals with emotion it only last for 5 minutes. When an opposition coach labels you like this ,then it's no good until you show consistency.
